There is a Toll gate to get in and park. You pay £1 and the gate and parking is free. There are 2 bird hides and depending on time of year a great to see a wide variety of birds. There are books and charts for guidance and most twitchers are helpful.

Initially Mum was very reluctant to go into a care home for respite, however, it wasn't long before she settled in and appreciated the excellent care she was receiving. Mum was extremely hard of hearing and the staff at Wychdene appreciated the headset she used so that she could have her TV on as loud as she wanted without blasting the eardrums of the other residents. Her lactose intolerance was taken into consideration when meals were being organised and prepared. She also enjoyed having her hair and nails done regularly, all organised by Wychdene. My sister and I cannot fault the care and love Mum received at Wychdene and they were fantastic during Mum's last weeks of her life, not only to Mum but to my sister and I, and indeed the family on the day of Mum's passing. I cannot recommend them highly enough, we were welcomed as part of the Wychdene family, from the Handyman to Misha and her husband. Thank you all so much

What a wonderfully peaceful place to visit for a walk and to watch the birds. The volunteer at the Field Centre was helpful and knowledgeable, and gave us a good walking route to follow. It was an incredibly peaceful place with zero traffic noise apart from the odd car that passed along the toll road. The Scrape was my favourite area, a lake with two well equipped and comfortable hides. The other bird watchers were friendly and happy to share their knowledge. You have to pay £1 for the toll road (£5 if you want to continue along it to Deal), if you are not a member. Will definitely be back!

We very much enjoyed our visit yesterday. Really peaceful area- well worth a visit. There is a new mobility scooter which can be pre-booked which meant I could spend a decent amount of time there - wonderful. The staff were very helpful too- thank you!

Really nice hides at Restharrow Scrape. Between the two you can get really close to the birds on view and see great detail even with the average binoculars that I have. Also, very friendly and helpful staff at the centre.

Knowledgeable staff and well stocked visitor shop. We left with lots of bird food for our garden feeders! Unfortunately due to covid restrictions the hides are closed but work has been done to ensure viewing platforms are available.

Took the cub scouts there for an evening session to learn about moths. It was fascinating and very well put together, and was enjoyed by cubs and adults alike. Will definitely go again, and sessions can be adapted for all age groups.😊

Amazing events! The moth evenings are great for children as are the guided wildlife walks every Friday and Sunday. Their Open Day on August bank holiday is always a highlight of our year. Classes in the winter also for people wanting to learn more about the natural world. Really recommend the Wildflower and Bee identification courses when they run them oh and the bat walks! Otherwise just a great place to have a wander to see birds, orchids, insects and all wildlife really. The field centre volunteers are really friendly and happy to point you in the right direction for walks. These can be found on OS map app too. Visiting their reserve Restharrow Scrape is a must, especially if you're into photography or just want to connect with nature. At only £1 at the toll gate it's a bargain too!
